Abstract :
*(250~1000 words)
The Three Gorges-Gezhouba cascade navigation system hub is composed of the Three Gorges ship lock and ship lift, the Gezhouba ship lock, the 38-kilometer canyon channel and the navigation support system. It is one of the most special and complex cascade navigation hubs in the world and a pillar of the great power. Since the opening of the Three Gorges Lock in 2003, a series of achievements have been made in navigation planning, construction, operation, and security of cascade hubs, which leads the scientific and technological innovation and development of hubs’ navigation operation. However, with the increasing demand of vessels passing through hubs, the passing capacity of cascade hubs is insufficient, and the problem of navigation bottlenecks is prominent. At the same time, navigation safety risks such as the backlog of vessels waiting for passing locks, ship safety monitoring, and the operation efficiency of ship locks and lifts are remarkable. The cascade navigation hubs involve many interdisciplinary areas such as maritime affairs, traffic management, mechanical engineering and information science which has high professional and technical requirements. It is challenging to manage and operate the general navigation operation in hubs. In this paper, we will comprehensively summarize the history of practical experience of navigation in Three Gorges-Gezhouba cascade hub in the past 40 years from planning and construction the hub to operation and management. Then we will analyze the development history and the trends of domestic and foreign cascade hubs, clarify the definition and connotation of cascade hub navigation system and design a framework of the comprehensive transportation theories of the Three Gorge-Gezhouba cascade hub. Then we analyze the key technologies such as overall planning, operation and maintenance of hub, safety assurance of vessels and intelligent transportation of the Three Gorges-Gezhouba cascade hub navigation and form a large-scale cascade hub navigation system engineering technology architecture. Finally we clarify the development direction and technical approach of the navigation system of the cascade hub through scientific and technological innovation to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the navigation system of the Three Gorges-Gezhouba cascade hub.
