The ship chamber of hydro-floating ship lift (HFSL) is suspended and lifted by the wire rope, which is the same as the rope winch ship lift (RWSL). During operation, the ship chamber will inevitably be subjected to some unbalanced loads. The deviation of the center of gravity of the water exerted an extra overturning moment on the chamber, which increased the chamber's inclination and boosted the further flow of the water in it. If the ship lift has not enough anti-overturning moment. It will eventually lead to the accident of ship chamber overturning. The wire rope at each lifting point of the ship chamber is winding on the corresponding drum at top of the ship lift, and its other end is connected with the balance weight. The drum is connected in series by the synchronous shaft to ensure the synchronous rotation of the drum. In the mechanical synchronous system composed of drums and synchronous shaft, the relative rotation angle of the drums consists of two parts. On the one hand, it is caused by the mounting clearance between drums and the synchronous shafts, at this time, the synchronous shaft is almost not stressed. On the other hand, the synchronous shaft is stressed due to the inconsistent driving force of the drum, and the torsion deformation of the synchronous shaft under the action of torque causes the relative rotation angle between the drums. For the electrical driven RWSL, its mounting clearance of mechanical synchronization system can be eliminated by motor pre-loading, and the synchronous shaft torsion deformation caused by non-uniform output can be reduced through the reduction gears and then transferred to the ship chamber. The HFSL mechanical synchronization system don’t have reduction gears, and the small deformation of the mechanical synchronization system directly acts on the ship chamber. So the chamber of HFSL is more easily overturned. The counter weights of HFSL has the reverse slope in the longitudinal direction as the chamber is inclined, under the effect of buoyancy, it plays a role of anti-overturning, but which is not enough to resist the overturning moment of water. In this case, the mechanical synchronization system plays an important role on anti-overturning. So, a small mounting clearance and rational stiffness of synchronization system is the key to the safe operation of the HFSL. In this paper, the generalized model of synchronization system of HFSL is established. The analysis of the generalized model is carried out with the ship chamber as the research object. According to the static moment balance equation, the design conditions of torsional stiffness of synchronous shaft are obtained. According to the kinetic equation of rigid body rotation and the differential equation theory, the longitudinal inclination of ship chamber of HFSL was deduced. The result shows that in the process of eliminating mounting clearance, the inclination is monotone increasing hyperbolic sine function. And after eliminating the clearance, tilt amount of ship chamber is about the trigonometric functions of time. Besides, the three-dimensional FSI mathematical model which contains synchronous axis, wire rope, ship chamber and the water in it is established in the paper, and the variation characteristics of longitudinal inclination of ship chamber are analyzed.
