The hydro-floating ship lift is mainly composed of hydraulic drive system, mechanical synchronization system, electrical control system and civil structure, among which the hydraulic drive system is the basis for the safe operation of the hydro-floating ship lift. Facing the development trend of "super high lift and super large lifting weight" of ship lift, this paper proposed a combination non-equal inertia water conveyance system (i.e. bottom long culvert + middle energy dissipation tank + top independent shafts) based on the successful practice of the equal inertia water conveyance system of the world’s first hydro-floating ship lift - Jinghong ship lift, and drawing on the non-equal inertia water conveyance system of ship locks. At the same time, the index for evaluating the water level synchronization in the shafts of hydro-floating ship lift was established, and several key factors affecting the water level synchronization of the combination water conveyance system are determined: the acting water head, the opening time of the filling and empty valves, the height of the energy dissipation tank and the layout of the top culvert port. By establishing a 1:13 physical model, the synchronization characteristics of shaft water level and the fluctuating pressure characteristics of unsteady flow in the energy dissipation tank were discussed. In addition, based on the physical model, CFD simulations were used to further reveal the turbulent kinetic energy distribution and flow energy dissipation law in the combination water conveyance system, as well as the influence of various influencing factors on water level synchronization, and finally put forward the optimal layout of the combination water conveyance system. The results show that the new combination water conveyance system improves the water flow conditions in the shafts, and the reasonable shape layout could ensure the synchronous and stable lifting of the counterweights in the shafts, so as to ensure the longitudinal tilt stability during the operation of the vessel supporting carriage.
